By Justin Phipps,
My first ever slopestyle win happened at Breck. It was an amazing experience.
I remember the night before, we stayed with a friend in Breck and my hopes were really high. Breck is like my home mountain and I know the jumps really well. I also remember I had been sticking my line really well so that helped me be a lot less nervous. Plus the weather was perfect, fast snow, good temps, and, the sun was out.
During practice the jumps were in the best shape ever. I felt ready!
Waiting for my drop I was staring at one of the competitors, Jack Coyne, thinking to myself, ‘I’m not going to let you beat me again’. When I took my first drop my confidence was really high, except, I messed up and fell and was in last place after the first heat.
My second drop was a lot easier, I just did what I needed to do, landed my tricks, got the scores I was looking for and made it to the top of the podium for the first time. It was a pretty awesome day because I had friends there to watch and they got me pumped up.
- Podium shot
- After contests are cool cause they raffle off prizes and today I won like three or four things.
- That’s my little brother Kyle and my Rome Mini Shred.
