Today I went to my first opening day at a-basin and it was way more fun than I expected it to be.
We took our time getting up the hill and arrived about 11:00 o’clock today. Already the bottom and mid parking lot were full. We had to park in the upper parking lot which felt like a mile from the chair, and speaking of the lift, I couldn’t believe how long the lift was! There was like a snard of people in the line. After 45 mins we were finally on the chair just waiting to take our first drop of the season.
After a couple quick high fives we strapped in and buttered over to the jib setup. Hamathon! I hadn’t even waited in line for five minutes and already I saw my friend Chris which was surprising because we weren’t even planning on meeting each other. Me and Chris hiked with each other until lunch, it was too much fun. I got a boardslide and pretzeled out and I even got an almost clean backlip. I am usually a slow starter at the beginning of the season, but today was different. Some of my mid season tricks were feeling pretty good!
We broke for a little lunch down at the base. I ran into another friend, Ryan Collins, he was looking pretty good too. I also couldn’t believe my bro Kyle he was already doing one eighties out of the flat box.
Anyways, I went to my first opening day ever today and had way more fun than I knew. A lot of good feelings, hi fives and, hey it’s good to be back on the snow!!
