by Justin Phipps,
Each year the SIA tradeshow goes off in Denver followed by their on snow demo. I was encouraged to make an appearance and so I made the trip out to Copper Mountain.
We showed up at the tents at like 915a. It was pretty huge, like a village of tents. We waited near the Rome Snowboards and Von Zipper setup and around 10a Brad Gobdel and others arrived back at the tents from an early tour of the mountain and introduced me to all the guys.
15 minutes later we had a gigantic crew of like 12 people. We made some laps in the pow, trees, and got some park riding in too.
During lunch I got to meet Rome Snowboards pro team rider Jonah Owen and a bunch of other rippers. Jonah took me out again for some awsm park laps after lunch. By 3:30p we were both exhausted so we headed down, packed up the tent. Right around that time I learned I was going to stick around for day two which was great because I was really having a good time.
We were invited to the Rome house for dinner. Our friend Josh who owns a restaurant in Grand Junction called Bin 707 made an amazing dinner shepherds pie, fondue, and chopped up veggies. For dessert we ate some amazing crack pie. We left at 730p so we could get me to bed to shred yet another day. I got to stay with my awsm Aunt Sandi in Frisco and that’s a good thing because staying at the Rome house might have prevented me from getting any sleep.
More to follow with a Day 2 post this week.
